Regan Livingstone's Bio
Originally from Northern Ontario, Regan’s family is the primary influence of her lifelong musical pursuits. With many cross-country, song filled adventures and piano lessons as a foundation, high school band and choir classes naturally became her new ‘home’ when she moved to Comox, BC and started high school at Highland Secondary. She was a member of every band, choir, and small ensemble the school had to offer, as well as the district Community Band, and thanks to her excellent mentors, Regan knew that teaching music was her calling.

Regan is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (B.Ed/B.Mus.Ed’03) where she studied saxophone (Marvin Eckroth) and percussion (Darrel Bueckert), and University of Victoria (M.Ed’08) with a focus on wind band conducting (Dr. Gerald King, Dr. Steven Capaldo, Dr. Mary Kennedy). She proudly served future music educators as a Sessional Instructor at UVic and curator of the Music Ed Resource Room for a decade. During that time, she also was a member of the BCMEA Executive as Journal Editor, Member-at-Large, and served as BCMEA and CMEA Conference Co-Chair for conferences in Richmond, BC and Winnipeg, MB, respectfully.

As a clinician, Regan has had the honour of working with students at festivals and workshops in Terrace, Victoria, and with those visiting the Comox Valley. Having recently returned to the Comox Valley as the Band Director at GP Vanier Secondary School, Regan teaches eager music students in Grades 8-12. Over the years, she has been a member and conductor of various community bands, making music with students of all ages.

She believes that everyone has something valuable to contribute as a member of a band. The joy that comes from sharing and creating music is always at the heart of her classes. She believes strongly in the power of connection that music brings to the lives of young people and is passionate about the positive impact music education has for students, schools, and community at large.

We'd love to hear from you!
